Concrete shrinkage and creep under drying/wetting cycles

چکیده
Concrete shrinkage and creep under variable hydric conditions are important factors for the safety durability of concrete especially in nuclear reactor or waste storage background. A large (and long – more than 900 days) experimental campaign, conducted on two different concretes, has therefore been designed to study strains non loaded concretes submitted drying liquid water imbibition cycles. For purposes comparison, mass variations during only (50% RH) and/or following cycles drying/rewetting were also recorded. This allowed identification desiccation shrinkage, basic at 10 MPa axial stress. Important results found have shown that final strain not deeply modified by introduction a rewetting phase either material.

Prediction of concrete creep and shrinkage: past, present and future
The first part of the paper summarizes various aspects of the prediction of concrete creep and shrinkage to be discussed in the conference lecture. They include the theories of physical mechanism, prediction models, constitutive equations, computational approaches, probabilistic aspects, and research directions. The second part then presents two new prediction models. One of them deals with the...
متن کاملCriteria for Rational Prediction of Creep and Shrinkage of Concrete
The paper discusses the problem of formulation and evaluation of a prediction model for creep and shrinkage of concrete. Verification by comparisons to a few subjectively selected data sets is no longer justifiable because computers have made statistical comparisons to the complete existing data bank easy. However, statistics based on the data bank are insufficient. There are three further crit...
متن کاملDamage in Prestressed Concrete Structures due to Creep and Shrinkage of Concrete
The theory of concrete creep and shrinkage has not been regarded as part of what has been understood as damage mechanics. However, these inelastic phenomena do result in significant damages to structures, including not only distributed cracking, which is damage in classical sense, but also damage in the form of excessive deflection which puts the structure out of service. It is for this reason ...
متن کاملRelationship between Gas Adsorption and the Shrinkage and Creep of Recycled Aggregate Concrete
In this work, it is described an experimental analysis of specimens of recycled concrete (RC) with replacement of natural aggregate with recycled aggregate originating from concrete (RCA). An experimental analysis to obtain the shrinkage and creep properties (basic and by drying) of RC was carried out. The replacement fraction of natural aggregate with RCA were 0%, 15%, 30%, 60% and 100% and th...
متن کاملShrinkage and Creep Properties of High-Strength Concrete Up To 120 MPa
Recently, the use of high-strength concrete has become more popular due to the availability and significant variety of the admixtures. High-strength concrete increases the load carrying capacity of the columns, therefore, reduces their sizes in buildings and bridges. In bridges, high-strength concrete could result in reduction of number of girders as well as an increase in the span length which...
